WordPress Website Design in Kansas City, MO

WordPress runs about four in ten websites, which means most Kansas City businesses either have one already or will be offered one. The difference between a WordPress site that works and one that fights you is almost never the platform. It is how it was built.

Why WordPress

Why we build most Kansas City sites on WordPress

Because you keep it. A WordPress site is yours in a way a proprietary builder's site never is. If you stop working with us tomorrow you can hand the login to anybody and they will know what they are looking at. That is not true of a platform where the agency owns the account and the export is a zip of nothing useful.

It also means you can change your own hours, add a service, swap a photo, without paying somebody to do it. Most Kansas City owners we work with want that and have been quoted a fee for it somewhere else.

The trade is that WordPress will let you break it. Thirty plugins, three page builders and a theme nobody updates is a slow and fragile site. That part is a build decision, not a platform problem.

Plugin Bloat

The plugin count is usually the problem

A typical inherited WordPress site arrives with twenty to forty plugins. Several do the same job. One is abandoned. Two are page builders that both load on every page whether or not the page uses them. Each one adds requests, and requests are what make a site slow on a phone on cell data somewhere on I-435.

We build with fewer moving parts. A clean theme, the handful of plugins that earn their load, and the rest of the function written directly. The result is a site that loads before somebody gives up, which matters more in a metro where a lot of searching happens in a vehicle.

What Is Included

What a WordPress build here actually includes

The structure first. One page per service so each has something to rank with, rather than one long page trying to cover everything. Titles and headings set per page. Internal links that point somewhere on purpose. Schema in the code so search engines are told what the business is instead of guessing.

Then the build. Responsive at phone width first. Forms that work and get tested. A contact number that dials with one tap. Images sized for the slot they sit in rather than uploaded at camera resolution and scaled down in the browser.

Then the handover. You get the admin login, a short recording of how to do the three things you will actually want to do, and a site you are not locked out of.

Migrations

Moving an existing site onto WordPress

If the current site ranks for anything, the move is the risky part. Pages that earn traffic today have to keep their URLs or get redirected properly, and the content on them cannot quietly shrink in the rebuild. That is where most redesigns lose traffic and nobody notices for two months.

We pull what ranks before touching anything, map every old URL to a new one, and check the map after launch rather than assuming. More on how that works on the Kansas City web design page.

Security

Security and the part nobody budgets for

A WordPress site that is never updated is a WordPress site that eventually gets defaced. Core, theme and plugin updates are not optional and they are not free in time. Neither are backups you have actually tested restoring.

We either do that monthly or we set you up so your own person can. What we will not do is hand over a site and let it rot, because a hacked site in Google's index is a worse problem than a slow one.

Honest Limits

When WordPress is the wrong answer

If you are selling thousands of products with complex variants, Shopify is usually less work and less risk than WooCommerce. If you need a booking system with real availability logic, a dedicated platform may beat a plugin.

We will tell you that rather than build the harder thing because it is what we sell. The point is a site that works in year three, not a project that closes this month.

Before You Call

WordPress questions Kansas City owners ask

Will I be able to edit it myself?

Yes, and that is most of the reason we use WordPress. You get the login, and a short walkthrough of adding a page, changing text and swapping a photo. Anything structural is worth a call first, because page structure is what the rankings sit on.

How long does a WordPress build take in Kansas City?

A straightforward local service site is usually four to six weeks from content to launch. The variable is almost never the build, it is how long it takes to get photos, service details and sign off. Sites where the owner has that ready move fast.

Can you work on the WordPress site I already have?

Often yes, and it is usually cheaper. If the theme is sound and the content is there, fixing structure, speed and on-page beats starting again. If it is three page builders deep and nobody knows which one controls the header, a rebuild is the honest answer.

What does it cost?

It depends on page count and whether you sell online, so we quote the scope rather than a single number. You get an itemized list: pages, revisions, what is included after launch and what is not. A flat figure with nothing behind it is asking you to trust a number.

Do you host it too?

We can, or you can host it anywhere you like, because it is your site. What matters more than who hosts it is that the hosting is fast enough and that somebody is applying updates. We are happy to just do the second part.
